Hey, I'm skylar!

Take a peek into my world!

Scroll through this page to discover how I became a web designer, explore my favorite things, understand my why, and even see my current obsessions!

The Psychology Behind my Design

My background in Human Development, paired with minors in Psychology and Communication, deeply influences my approach to web design and branding. Understanding how people think, feel, and communicate has been crucial in creating websites that do more than just look good—they connect with audiences on a deeper level. This education has equipped me with the skills to tap into the emotions, perceptions, and behaviors of a target audience, allowing me to design websites that resonate and engage.

I'm lowkey obsessed with...

  • Fantasy books (I love a good magical world)

  • Grocery shopping (There's just something about the produce section at Sprouts that makes me so happy)

  • Competition cooking shows (Chopped got me hooked when I was 12)

  • Reading while sipping on a hot cup of tea

  • Paddleboarding (The best experience I ever had was doing SUP yoga in San Diego)

From Social Media to Strategic Design

I started as a social media manager which is where I first was asked to create a website for a client of mine. In this experience I really learned how to blend design with strategy, ensuring that every element of a website, from the visuals to the messaging, is tailored to evoke the right responses from potential clients. My ability to communicate complex ideas simply and effectively also stems from this background, which has been instrumental in helping my clients articulate their brand stories.

You probably wouldn't guess...

I grew up playing soccer & was in a sports medicine program all of High School (where I met my high school sweetheart of 7 years). I even went into college as a Biology Major but switched as soon as I barely passed my first Chem class.

Bringing Emotional Intelligence to Web Design

Before diving fully into web design, I also spent time building a business as an emotion and trauma release coach. This experience further refined my ability to understand and communicate complex emotional landscapes, which I now apply to crafting websites that truly reflect my clients' values and mission. My work as a coach deepened my insight into the human experience, adding another layer of empathy and connection to my design process.

creating websites that connect

Now, I blend my educational background, experience in social media, and coaching expertise with my passion for design to help clients authentically showcase their unique stories and brand personalities online. My aim is to craft websites that not only embody the essence of a brand but also forge meaningful connections with audiences, ultimately driving business growth and transformation.

Some Non-Negotiables In My Life & Biz

Creativity

Creativity was something I actually fought a lot growing up even though I always loved it; from drawing, cooking, designing my apartment. I've had to heal my relationship with my creative side. Which is what makes the web design process even more joyful for me.

Community

Life is not meant to be experienced alone and neither is business! We are tested day in & day out in our businesses. Finding the right people to support you in it has helped me IMMENSELY!

Mindfulness

In my opinion, this is the ultimate key to life. A mindful approach has the power to impact everything from your relationships to the way you wake up each morning and even how successful your business is.

Balance

Between work & play. Creativity & strategy. Masculine & feminine. Balance is a very important element in design as well. Making sure the colors, energies, and flow all creates a perfectly unique balance for your brand.
